  Niederdeutsch in Glien und Havelland
This page is part of the online representation of the Region Glien (Regional Park Krämer Forest) northwest of Berlin. The region used to constitute a transitional area between Central Mercian and North Mercian Low Saxon (Low German). In the course of the 20th century, the regional Low Saxon dialect came to be absorbed into the common language variety of Berlin and Brandenburg. The history and the present state of the language are explained in light of this background.
